Shifting Entire Production Schedule Simultaneously

I want to shift the entire Prodiction Schedule of a project to reflect a new start date.  How can I shift all Tasks at onec?  Or do I need to each Task individually?

    The answer to this will depend on what the sheet looks like. You'll have to give more information in order for this to be addressable. Have you tried moving the dates at all?

    If you have dependencies enabled then you can link all your tasks together using predecessors. Once they are linked, adjusting the first date will adjust all the dependent tasks.

    I don't use dependancies. So I export the data to Excel, apply formulas to get the new dates and then paste them back in.

    Idealy you will use Dependency linking to drive your project.  I know a lot of people do not use this method but It does give you greater control, forcasting and acrucy.  Create you plan using dependencies, ensure there is continious work flows through your project.  Have a Project Start Milestone at the beginning and a Project End Milestone, link all tasks by thier depenedencies.  If this method is used then change start dae and whole project shifts.

    If you want to shift everything by the same amount, make a new date column and populate it with the formula (assuming row 1 and the shift as 25 days, for this example)

     

    =[Start Date]1+25

     

    Copy and paste all the resulting dates from the new date column into the start column, using CTRL+SHIFT+V and selecting "Values" to paste in the values.

    Having the ability to change a start date and see how everything shifts is definitely desirable.  Some sub tasks are not dependent on pre-decessors so linking the tasks is not always required or wanted.  Microsof Project allows one to create a new start date which then allows everything to shift.  This is very helpful for What-if Scenarios.

    Hi,

    I have a project with some linked predecessors in it, but some events without. I am trying to make the whole project start later and keep all the relative dates and dependencies.

    I cannot select all events and drag – I see lots of arrows that seem to loop back to the beginning.

    I tried creating a new date column with an offset, but when I selected the original start column to paste the offset dates, after a warning, it removed all my existing dependencies. Pasting over individual dates works for some rows, but for others gives the same warning.

    I do not want to set up the entire project with dependencies so that I can simply adjust the first date. Is there another way to do this?
