Showing Errors in a formula

When working with a formula, some errors do happen and the formular doesn't work. Does smartsheet have a feature like excel which would show a part of formular that is missing something or has a problem?

Also in excel, before you hit Enter in a formula, you could highlight part of an argument or formula and hit F9 to see what is the outcome of that argument before you press enter for the whole formular to work. How do I do this in smartsheet?

And if a formular in smartsheet gets too long, it stops highlighting the reference cells which makes it confusing if creating further arguments, and the formular bar blocks other cells that you wish to select. How do I fix this?

    Hi Ray,

When working with a formula, some errors do happen and the formular doesn't work. Does smartsheet have a feature like excel which would show a part of formular that is missing something or has a problem?

    Question 1. Unfortunately, it doesn't.

Also in excel, before you hit Enter in a formula, you could highlight part of an argument or formula and hit F9 to see what is the outcome of that argument before you press enter for the whole formular to work. How do I do this in smartsheet?

    Question 2. Unfortunately, you can't.

And if a formular in smartsheet gets too long, it stops highlighting the reference cells which makes it confusing if creating further arguments, and the formular bar blocks other cells that you wish to select. How do I fix this?

Question 3. A possible workaround would be to split out the formula and then assemble it.

    I hope this helps you!

    re: smartsheet gets too long

This points to another reason why I limit my formulas. Even without reading it, I suspect your formula is too long.
