Smartsheet Reporting

Hey all -

I am attempting to build individual reports for users in our account. I am having a bit of an issue setting up the parameters of the report as I'm not too sure how to build it out.

Is reporting only pulled from the column sections? If so, if I needed to pull reporting for an item on a row, how exactly could I achieve that?

Any guidance at all would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi Ken,

Reports will pull rows from your sheet(s) based on the column criteria you set. If you set a "who" criteria and specify a specific user column, and a specific user, say John Doe, then you would get every row that is assigned to John Doe. If you specify a When or What, then only those rows that match that criteria will appear in your report. Does that make sense?

Here are some links regarding creating reports.

think about the data rows you want to see in the report and make sure you ad a "Data Trigger" to that row. it could be a date, a person, a checkbox a status etc or a combination of all of those.

Add only the columns to your report that you want see and potentially edit, eg edit the status from "In progress" to "Complete".

Bear in mind the same report can filter by the person logging in, so that person only sees work allocated to that person.

Reports can pull from as many sheets as you wish into one report but be careful to use Uniform column names.

    Hope that helps?

  • Hi Mike,

Thank you for the response and for the helpful links. I've reviewed both of them and discovered a solution for my issue.

    Thanks,

    Ken
