Sorting Issues

I'm still looking into this but has anyone had any issues with the sorting feature?

We have one sheet that 17 people are constantly working in a day.

(All Editors and 2 Admins if that makes any difference) This morning we SORTED several rows and HOURS later someone who had the sheet open, saved their data and INSTANTLY ALL the rows were all over the place, not even like it was before we sorted. ( in my opinion had not refreshed the page after changes)  Now this has happened twice and I'd like to eliminate it from happening but I'm not exactly sure how its happening. I do know that both times the person, who saved their work and caused the rows to reorder, did not sort the page.

Any experience with this?

  • Hi Laura,

Once a column is sorted, there is no "undo" option. If you have multiple users that need to sort information, I would recommend using filters instead, or pulling the info into a report and sorting from there (sorting in the report does not sort the underlying sheet).

    Hope this helps,

    Kara

No one else should be sorting the information. Just one person. However; somehow if others are in the sheet while its sorted, then save their updates AFTER its sorted then it completely rearranges the sheet for some reason

    Laura,

Try to get your non-sorters to refresh more often.

    Does the sorting occur often?

  • Hi

We have several people using the smart sheet, and have similar issues. Applying a sort helps me easily place dated items into their proper rows, but it seems that minutes later everyone else's sheet gets disordered. Applying a sort is a must for easily adding new data to the sheet. Only myself though, could I be causing some sort of knock on effect?
