Split-screen View to compare sheets

In other programs there is a split-screen view or arrange windows in order to compare two documents. Other than opening two different Smartsheet windows (and, subsequently, opening a different sheet in each window), is there a way to compare sheets? I have two versions of a sheet (where I am using data from one to update data in the 2nd).

Thanks!

Maybe you can accomplish what you need using a report. Build the report to show each sheet you want to see. You can have the sheet name displayed to keep the sheet data identified. While reports do not allow you to delete or add rows, you will be able to revise the cell contents and otherwise compare the sheets.

Thanks, Tim. I did go ahead and just open a separate window (and sheet) so I could see both at the same time. The report would, indeed, help me compare, but it is an extra step that I'd like to avoid :)

The best options at this point would be to use a report or open two windows on your computer with a sheet in each.

I will submit your suggestion for a split-screen, to the Product team!

  • Yes please Travis. this would be really useful.

I am checking back in to see if this was submitted to the product team.

I am now uploading an Excel file that is a report run in Paychex, and I need to compare the information in this report to an existing Smartsheet that contains much of the same data. I certainly can open 2 different windows to compare, but if I could upload the Excel file into Smartsheet and have it compare to the already existing information (and replace if necessary), this would save a lot of time!

Thanks to the product team, in advance, for taking a look at this option!
