Spreadsheet with multiple tabs

I was maintaining an excel spreadsheet with multiple tabs, and some of the fields under these tabs were similar, when i would update this field in master tab, then it would populate the same informatoin on similar fields on rest of the tabs.

 

I imported this excel spreadsheet in to smartsheet and it is importing only first tab , without other two tabs.,

 

Please let me know if anyone knows on how to work around this.

    Importing Files to Create New Sheets

     

    You can import an existing Excel file (.xls, .xslx, or .csv), Google Spreadsheet, or Microsoft Project 2007, 2010 or 2013 file (.xml, .mpp or .mspdi) of up to 10MB in size to create a new sheet in Smartsheet. 

    Importing a file converts it into a format that will work in Smartsheet. If importing a file that uses functionality not provided in Smartsheet (such as merged cells, multiple tabs or cell borders), this functionality won't be included in the sheet. You may need to make manual adjustments to the sheet after import.

     

    TIP: Importing will always create a brand new sheet. To bring data from other programs into an existing sheet, use copy and paste.

     

    You may have to import each tab separately, then relink the cells with shared data.

    I did import the files first and it only populated first tab, i had to open new blank spreadsheet for each seperate tab and did copy paste. So now i have three different worksheets, instead of one with multiple tabs and i have to update these common fields in each smartsheet individually. Looks like there is no way around it!

    Aziz, the easiest way to import multiple tabs from an Excel workbook is to drag and drop the tab to the first position in the Excel workbook, save, then import. It is not necessary (in most cases) to create a new workbook and copy and paste the data.

     

    Once the sheets are imported to your account, you can use cell linking to link cells between sheets.

    Yes, multiple tabs for Smartsheets are essential - even if it is limited to 5-10 tabs. It is the one most annoying feature about Smartsheet that always makes me want to use Excel. angry

    Did that and even after dragging a different tab to the left most position and saving the document, SS still only sees the first tab and recreates a new sheet with that name and only the original data.

     

    Yes, I have tried giving the sheet a different name.

    Yes, I've tried saving the excel file under another name.
