Sub-task card lane driven my main card

I am using card view as a materials log and I have a question regarding the 'grouping' of cards.

The problem: We have a pallet containing 4 boxes. The pallet is assigned to a lane in the sheet. I have created a sub-task card for each box on the pallet. When I move the pallet card the sub-task cards remain in the lane.

The question: Is there a way to make sub-task cards follow the main card they were created from when they change lanes? Failing that is there another mechanism I can use to group cards together so they all follow the same lane changes?

Thanks,

  • Hi Joe,

    If you don't need to change the statuses of your child cards independently from your parent cards, you can automate this with an IF formula.

    This is something you'll want to do while in the Grid or Gantt views. An example of this is as follows:

    =IF(PARENT()="In Progress","In Progress", IF(PARENT()="Not Started", "Not Started"))

    More on the IF function and PARENT functions can be found in the help center:

    Note that this type of IF statement automation can only work if you're viewing your cards by a dropdown field or a symbol field. (Formulas can't be placed in Contact list fields.)
