Updating Info on the Projects Index Sheet

Hi all,

Consider that I have an index sheet that lists all the projects (active or not), with the current task, it's description, timescale, owner of the task, and also the task that will come next.

Parallel to that, I have individual sheets for each project that list all the information above, and also all the remaining tasks to complete the project.

Is there a way for, as the tasks on the index are tagged as "Completed", it will update the current and next task on that same sheet?

    If I understand correctly:

The index sheet shows the current and next task for a specific project by name or description (two columns) based on activity in the specific project's schedule sheet.

When changes are made to the schedule, the index sheet is updated.

    If so, then yes.

You'll need some way to determine what is current and next, which I would assume you already have or have in mind.

Here's one I wrote when the schedule is sequential (not date driven):

and I have another one (not posted yet), that will find the next one by date.

After those are find, simply cell link or even X-Sheet reference to get the information from the project sheet to the index sheet.

    Hi,

thanks for your help. I struggled a little bit with the explanation on your link (maybe because it was simply not taylor-made for the sheets I built). But I manage to achieve it through the VLOOKUP function. It works perfectly.

    Thanks for your help!!
