Web Form Blocked by Receiving Company

I opened a support ticket, but didn't find anything on this forum addressing my issue. We planned to use Web Forms for our clients to request training. Unfortunately, the first one we sent out was reported as blocked by their network security. Here is their message:

"Hey there! Id love to fill in the blanks on this form. However the app smartsheet is not an approved by our network security. If it is possible to have this form in a .pdf or excel or word that would be great! Thanks for your time!"

Has anyone else had this problem or know a workaround? If this is a common problem then we will not be able to use this feature.

    Stan,

I've not experienced or heard of this issue. They must have a very strict firewall policy.

Do these clients have a login to Smartsheet?  One option would be to make them a registered user by setting them up as a "non-licensed user" in your (enterprise?) account.  My thought is that if that have to create login, maybe it would allow them through. But if it's blocking the webform, they may not even be able to create a login.

So this may not solve the firewall blocking access to the webform, but thought it might be worth a try.

If not, see if they can get their firewall guys to put "smartsheet.com" in their network "whitelist".

Accessible by: choose whether your web form can be viewed and submitted byanyone with the link or only registered Smartsheet users. With the latter, anyone who navigates to the web form URL will be prompted to log in to Smartsheet (if they aren't already) before they can view and submit the form. In this case, if Enable confirmation email is selected, web form submitters will see their email address automatically populated when they check the box to send me a copy of my responses.

  • Thanks for the response, Tim. Unfortunately, this defeats the purpose of using a web form to send to prosepective clients. I was doing it for convenience, but if the client can't fill out a form and has to request their IT to whitelist Smartsheet to read our form, that's not happening. I am not sure where you are finding the option to Enable confirmation email. I have the Advanced option checked for "anyone with a link"

    Hi Stan,

Three years of using (and supporting) web forms, and this is the first I have heard of forms specifically being blocked.  As Tim suggested, they must have a strict form policy at their company and our domain will need to be whitelisted.
