Is there a plan to develop a weekly update requests from the Alerts and Actions screen with delivery settings which are the same as the settings defined when applying an update request for individual row or selected rows?

It could have a great impact to have the delivery weekly on specific days and not dependent on "specific column changes" / "row added or modified" , etc.

See difference in attached screen shots.

I agree... having consistency between these dialogue boxes would be extremely helpful and useful from a UX perspective. There are all kinds of dialouge boxes that shift between different functionalities. The Alerts and the Notifications differences are also extremely frustrating. We would like alignment between those too.

    Hi,

I had a similar problem for a sheet where I wanted a notification when :

    • a specific date is in 60days from today (or less)
    • send this notification every monday until the guy checks a box.

What I did was to create a hidden column with a (pretty) formula returning the Monday of the current week if conditions are met. I can then schedule a reminder.

The result is pretty close to what I wanted!

    Could this help?

    Best Regards,

    Paul.

    Hi,

What i did was to add a hidden column with formula checking the weekday the "today" date.

If it is Monday, it writes something on the cell.

Then the update requests rule looks for that value and triggers an update request.

But, the issue is that if i want the system to see the change in the column from blank to another value the sheet has to be saved on Monday to trigger the notification rule.

That means someone has to manually enter the sheet on Monday morning and save it.

If the sheet owner forgets or away or something like that and nobody saved the sheet then nothing will be sent.

How can we work around it?

I would like to cast my vote for this.  In our business, we do statewide transmissions on Thursdays and we post those results to Smartsheet on Friday.  I have an alert setup to send an alert, along with a link to each of our clients Dashboards, (Since we cannot send dashboard links automatically).  Since Smartsheet sends the alerts very early Friday mornings, our clients do not get the updated data and the alerts only go out if there is a change on the sheet.  When we post our data Fridays, it creates the change needed to trigger the alert, but the alert has already gone out and if there was not a change to their sheet earlier in the week, they do not receive an alert.  My only work-around is to go to a daily alert, but then we are just needlessly spamming our clients on a daily basis (so they would get Friday updates on Monday).  Even if I could change the time of day on Fridays, it would be helpful.
