work week and predecessors

I'm using 5 day work week but have some tasks identified in my schedule that may occur over a weekend based on previous dependencies. Example, we are placing concrete for pour 1 and it happens to land on a friday, we need three days to cure before stressing. With a 5 day work week selected in doesn't count the weekend as cure time, so we lose 2 days on the schedule because it starts cure time on Monday rather than Saturday.  I'm using predecessors so that if the schedule changes everthing moves  with it. If I enter a date with out the predecessor I will have to remember each item and manually make changes.

 

Is there a work around when I enter predecessors that tells the program to count the weekend even though I've selected a 5 day work week?

    Hi Ryan, Smartsheet support elapsed time durations which schedules tasks 24/7 regardless of working days and length of working day.

     

    To use elapsed time, add an "e" to the front of your duration.

     

    For example, if you pour concrete on Friday and it takes 3 24 hour days to cure, use this duration:

    I guess I need to reread the Help section. I don't remember that from last reading.

     

    Related, I suggest a "last updated" on the Help articles. Of course, that would only help one if they checked them. Hmmm.

    Last update would be a good idea for the Help Center!

     

    I would also check out the release notes - this can give you a good indicator of which Help Articles were updated.

     

    Elapsed duration was included in the July release with durations in less than 1 day (remember when you could only schedule full day tasks?) Laughing
