Many organizations use Smartsheet to manage business processes throughout the lifecycle of an existing record. In these scenarios, we don't need to create a new row - we need to collect additional information and update the row that already exists.

Examples include:

• Membership renewals
• Vendor onboarding and management
• Contract renewals
• Employee onboarding and offboarding
• Equipment requests
• Compliance reviews
• Annual certifications
• Project approvals

Currently, organizations must choose between:

• Forms, which provide a modern, user-friendly experience with conditional logic, required fields, and file uploads, but always create duplicate records.
• Update Requests, which update the correct row but lack the flexibility, usability, and guided experience that Forms provide.

A Form-Based Update Request would combine the best of both features by allowing a workflow to send a customizable form that updates the existing row that triggered the automation.

Many organizations use Smartsheet to manage process that evolve over weeks, months, or even years. Allowing Forms to update existing rows would greatly simplify these workflows while maintaining a single source of truth throughout the lifecycle of a record.

Smartsheet already knows which row triggered the workflow. Allowing a Form to update that same row feels like the natural next evolution of Forms and Workflow Automation.

Thank you for considering this enhancement. I believe it would benefit organizations across virtually every industry and become one of the most impactful workflow improvements available in Smartsheet.

ALSO, please make it so that we can COPY a column with Contacts loaded and use it again in the same sheet!

Neither should be a premium feature or require an API buildup! This would have saved me hours so far this year, and could easily save me more! ...Do the same thing for Forms please!

I’m submitting this idea after running into a real challenge on my team that I think others may be facing too.

We use Smartsheet dashboards heavily to share trends and performance data, and recently one of our team members shared that they were having trouble distinguishing between lines on our charts due to color vision differences.

It made me realize how much our charts rely on color alone to tell the story.

Right now, there’s no way to change line styles (like dashed or dotted), which would make a huge difference for accessibility. Even something simple like making one line dashed and another solid would immediately make charts easier to read, not just for color-blind users, but also when presenting, printing, or viewing on different screens.

What I’d love to see:
The ability to customize line styles in charts (solid, dashed, dotted, etc.) in addition to color.

This feels like a small change that could have a big impact in making dashboards more inclusive and easier for everyone to interpret.

If you’ve ever had trouble telling lines apart, or want to make your dashboards more accessible, I’d really appreciate your support on this idea.

We have to admit, not having Gantt view in WorkApps kind of limited the scope of its project management functionality. Fortunately, we’ve gone ahead and taken care of that.

Our latest release enables WorkApps to support Gantt view in the sheets experience! App users can now build pages using this view and end users can better visualize how tasks, timelines and data all fit together. You can leverage dependencies and automatic calculations to better understand in context how tasks fit together in a project as well as drill into key details and timelines in the WorkApp. This empowers a more contextual view of how the various components in a project are interrelated, making WorkApps even more powerful and enticing.

It would be a tremendous help in creating and maintain project schedules having the dropdown like in Project for selecting Predecessors it is very time consuming to have to jump out or have a second screen open to fined what needs added. This would be a huge help in schedule creation and monitoring.

Implementing backward scheduling in Smartsheet would significantly enhance its utility for project managers who work with fixed deadlines and need to calculate start dates based on a target completion date. Backward scheduling allows users to plan by defining end goals and identifying the necessary steps and timelines to reach that goal. This feature is invaluable in ensuring that teams can prioritize tasks efficiently, account for dependencies, and prevent delays that could impact the overall project delivery. Adding backward scheduling would position Smartsheet as a more versatile and competitive project management tool, better equipped to meet the needs of industries that rely on strict timelines, such as manufacturing, construction, and event planning.

I would like to be able to show, hide, sort, and order columns via a template. I am able to filter based on specific conditions but I also need to be able to view the data a specific way.
