Re: Dashboard widget is not displaying all of the data from the source report
Solution!
I contacted customer support and they offered a list of items to try. I tried saving a new copy of the dashboard and it worked! Problem solved. I have a lot of dashboards I have to do the same thing to but I believe that Smartsheet is worth it. It's an incredible piece of software. Below is a the list support sent me.
"If you have confirmed that none of the above information has managed to resolve your issue please can you provide the below information so we can help investigate further:
- Are any other users experiencing similar behavior, if so please provide their email addresses?
- Does the behavior occur when creating a save as new copy of the Dashboard?
- Approx. date and time (including time zone) of when the issue occurred?
- Does the behavior occur on any other Dashboards or any other Widgets in the Dashboard?"
Thanks,
Jim
Re: Sharing a Filter By Current user report without sharing the sheet
Hi @David Dolch
I hope you're well and safe!
Here's a possible workaround or workarounds

Would that work/help?
I hope that helps!

Re: Dynamically Updating Dashboard Using Forms
A feature addressing this need would be quite valuable for me. I have a project portfolio sheet, one project per row, many columns serving as fields collecting different high-level data about a given project. A dashboard functionality, where I can visually lay out the different fields. Then having slider buttons where I can cycle through different rows, that is through different projects, would generate quick one page overview for every project. Currently this is not possible in the dashboard. Any plan to introduce this functionality would be helpful to know.
Re: Formula that pulls data from specific columns in a successor row
I do not think this problem has been solved. See this thread here, and the thread that that thread references.
The problem is when you have mulitple successors, Smartsheet cannot reference the Assigned To for each row. Now, you could take that Successors column and parse it out to multiple columns (and you will need to have one column for every successor, which might make this impossible) and then look up the Assigned To and concatenate those columns into one field. I personally would not do that, because it breaks data normalization conventions, but it could be done. The problem with this is that when you concatenate the contacts into one field, Smartsheet does not recognize them as contacts anymore, and it defeats the purpose which is to use the field for automation.
The formula to do this "one column per successor trick" is:
=INDEX([Assigned To]:[Assigned To], MATCH(INDEX(COLLECT(RowID:RowID, Predecessors:Predecessors, RowID@row), 1), RowID:RowID, 0))
=INDEX([Assigned To]:[Assigned To], MATCH(INDEX(COLLECT(RowID:RowID, Predecessors:Predecessors, RowID@row), 2), RowID:RowID, 0))
=INDEX([Assigned To]:[Assigned To], MATCH(INDEX(COLLECT(RowID:RowID, Predecessors:Predecessors, RowID@row), 3), RowID:RowID, 0))
The incrementing number (the 1, 2, 3 after the RowID@row),) in the formula is the successor number. So the first formula will return the Assigned To of the first successor, the second formula returns the second successor, etc. And if these formulas are all on one row, you can get all of your successors into one row. Getting them into one cell to drive automation is the hard part.
Here is a screen shot which should help orient this crazy answer. The above formulas are in the highlighted cells. The thing I did not do is include any error handling to make it so this formula only acts on rows with successors.
This thread discusses the problem with getting multiple contacts into one cell:
Re: April Question of the Month - Join the conversation and receive a badge
This may sound cliche but I would try to end world hunger.
I have an idea how though...
"According to Ceres2030, an initiative led by foundations, universities, and scientists working to find solutions to hunger, donor governments would need to invest an additional $14 billion on average in foreign aid every year until 2030 to end hunger sustainably."
So my plan would be to start a non-profit that solicited donations from billionaires and millionaires globally to cover the $14B a year. Is it possible? Well, considering there are more than 2,700 billionaires and 59 million millionaires world wide - it's absolutely possible.

End war and hunger.
Re: April Question of the Month - Join the conversation and receive a badge
Wow, I love this question! I try everything at least once. Whether I fail or succeed, I love the challenge. I have started and sustained my own small business, designing and manufacturing, drywall, tile work, woodwork and gardening. I don't always need to succeed, it's the adventure of trying.
Thomas Edison said it best " I have not failed 1000 times. I have successfully discovered 1000 ways to NOT make a light bulb."
Re: April Question of the Month - Join the conversation and receive a badge
All the generalist dabblers over here panicking trying to pick just one thing they would do...Haha!
Among other things...I would love to invest in breath-taking real estate, managed in part by an excellent property management team. Then, while that business runs in the background, I would love to write books as well as to collaborate with emerging artists to perform my spoken word poetry!

I don't have an update for you in this area, but there's a related Product Idea you could add your vote and voice to here: Generate Documents with Adobe Sign

Re: NEW! Dashboard color themes
Hooray!!! Was hoping this would include dark theme for sheets too. Got a little too excited!
