With permission from @Genevieve P. I've been advised that I can post an update here about our latest innovation within our suite of apps to enhance user experience with Smartsheet.

We have created an app that works with a Smartsheet backend that gives you Smarter Dashboards. There is the ability to have multiple views (for different audiences), multiple widgets, multiple filters for real-time drilling without the need to build duplicate dashboards and navigate between them.

You can even edit the data in the tables straight from the dashboard. Running from Sheets or Reports, these dashboards are a great alternative to PowerBI.

I recently heard a client describing them as "dashboards on steroids" which I particularly liked!

Just a quick addition to add to what @Debbie Sawyer has said, it's worth noting that we're constantly adding new functionality to our Smarter Dashboards, based on customer need. So if you need your dashboards to do something that Smarter Dashboards doesn't already do, please get in touch and we'll see if we can add it!

No I have not. My current contract at Del-Air does not use Smartsheet (heathens!). However I will keep it in mind when I get my next role (contract or permenant).

I would like to know more about Smarter Dashboards. Are they a separate entity, or can they be created using the existing sheets and dashboards in my workspace? How do they work? Can I create them myself, or would I need assistance from Smartsheet?

As long as you have the license you can create the Dashboards yourself.

On the dashboard you can put as widgets different parts of smartsheet like metrics, reports, links, rich text, forms etc.

The Smarter Dashboards in this thread are not the inhouse Smartsheet Dashboards. They are a Dashboard tool created by Smarter Business Processes.

Yes, the Dashboard itself is a separate entity. They are an add-in to your Smartsheet License. They allow you to connect to your existing data in Smartsheet and access it via a Dashboard Frontend. From that dashboard you have the ability to create multiple Views, Multiple filters (similar to PowerBI functionality) and you have the ability to edit Smartsheet data through tables in the Dashboard (without necessarily being shared to the Smartsheet itself).

You can create them yourself, we offer an hours consultancy (FREE) to help you understand the tool, there are videos on our YouTube channel to help you configure your Smarter Dashboard. You will NOT need assistance from Smartsheet directly, but you are welcome to reach out to us for assistance if you need your dashboard configured quickly.
