Formulas that were working are now not pulling in data after connecting source sheet to a DataTable

Here is my set up:

Datatable that contains all actual charges for our company's projects
Project "actual charges" sheet that connects to this datatable and pulls in data based on a project ID
Several other project sheets that link via formula to the project "actual charges" sheet

Prior to implementing the datatable, there was another sheet being used to get actual data into Smartsheet that was not a datatable, but another smartsheet grid that was connected via a Datashuttle/attachment upload to a sheet. All of the project worksheets that referenced the "actual charges" sheet worked just fine and quite well with data being pulled in and analyzed, then dispersed into dashboards.

After now connecting the project "actual charges" sheet to a Datatable (via add and update mode), none of the formulas are working. All the data flows into the project "actual charges" sheet as intended but the formula processing now across the project-specific files seems broken. I am at a loss for what I did wrong, or if there is just an extreme lag on Smartsheet with formulas processing through all of the linkages? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

@Georgie I was actually able to figure out this issue by looking through Smartsheet documentation. The source data sheet included a currency value ($) in the "billable amount" column, which the Datatable recognized as text rather than a numerical value. Removing the $ from the data source was able to correct the issue and now formulas are working again as expected.

Hi @sarahm6,

Is it possible that any of the sheets involved in the formulas use the TODAY function? The TODAY function requires the sheet to be opened or changes to be made in the sheet for it to be updated, but there are options to automatically update the TODAY function in formulas.

From your description, it doesn’t sound like this is the issue, but I wanted to provide this information just in case!

If the TODAY function isn’t the issue, I’d recommend submitting a Support ticket, as the team will be able to look into the affected sheets with you to see the exact behaviour and can then investigate on the backend.
