SUMIFS help!

Hello!

I've attached a screenshot of what I'm trying to do. Basically, I want to do a SUM formula on the range int eh screenshot IF the left column is "Supplemental" and the top row is Monday-Friday. I thought the way I had set it up was right, but I'm getting INCORRECT ARGUMENT SET.

Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!

Sumifs can't handle mixed ranges, so the problem is that you are trying to handle the data in 2 dimensions instead of 1 (that is, Sumifs works checking an individual row against other individual rows or when checking an individual column against other individual columns, it can't do columns and rows simultaneously). You need to address this in 2 steps with either a helper row or column. In the helper (let's presume column), first for each category sum the values that are weekdays, then sum the categories you care about.

So I tried adding a helper column that will just add all of the weekdays up, and also got INCORRECT ARGUMENT SET lol. Is there something wrong with the syntax?

The helper column should use this formula:

=SUMIF([D1 (1st day of the Month)]$71:[D14 (1st day of the Month)]$71, OR(@cell = "Monday", @cell = "Tuesday", @cell = "Wednesday", @cell = "Thursday", @cell = "Friday"), [D1 (1st day of the Month)]@row :[D14 (1st day of the Month)]@row )

The Sheet Summary field should use this formula:

=SUMIF([Labor Type]72:[Labor Type]80, @cell = "Supplemental", [Column21]72:[Column21]80)
