Id like to create a formula to calculate year to date 2016 vs 2017

Example  2016 - I have total  of monthly sales for all 12 months (jan-dec)

2017 I YTD have sales for Jan- march

I want to look at Jan-march ytd 2016/vs 2017 % change year over year

Thanks for any help!

Tina

    Hi Tina—

Not quite sure if I'm getting this right, but I believe YTD returns % is ((CURRENT - PREVIOUS) / CURRENT) * 100

I'm getting this info from Investopedia so correct me if I'm wrong.

You can do this in Smartsheet with a formula like the following:

    =(SUM(Sales13:Sales15) - SUM(Sales1:Sales3)) / SUM(Sales1:Sales3)

    Imagine these ranges as ((2017 sales) - (2016 sales) / 2017 sales)

Instead of the * 100, format the column that contains your formula for % by clicking the % button in the left toolbar.

Keep in mind that you'll need to change the cell references to the column names of your sheet.

More on the SUM function in Smartsheet can be found in our Help Center: https://help.smartsheet.com/function/sum
