I’ll start! Here are my two princes - Sam (short for Samwise Gamgee), and Toby (the white one, who loves sunbathing). 🐶💜
Re: Hot key for Expand and Collapse Row
Yes, it would also be good to be able to expand/collapse the sheet to a specific Level 2 or Level 3, instead of only Expand All/Collapse All.
Drop-Down Contact List
When a contact list drop-down is created there should be a better way to edit the options. They appear in alphabetical order when the drop-down is used but default to the order in which they were added when the drop-down list is edited. This makes it very tedious to edit the drop-down lists. It would be much better if the list could also be in alphabetical order when the it's being edited.
Re: How would you extract a number from a cell that contains text and numbers?
Hi @Jerell Parker ,
There are several ways to do this. If the number is always the same number of characters and in the same position you can do:
=VALUE(LEFT([text-num]@row, 6)) where [text-num] is the name of your column with mixed entry.
If the numbers are always at the beginning of the string but their length varies you can do:
=VALUE(LEFT([text-num]@row, FIND(" ", [text-num]@row)-1))
Help?

NEW! AI formulas, text and summaries tools available for Enterprise users
Hi Community,
We have stellar news to share with you: AI tools for the Smartsheet platform have dropped!
The AI tools panel is now generally available to Enterprise licensed users. It houses powerful new generative AI tools that integrate directly with your sheet data to unlock new insights and save time:
Stop wrangling formulas
Answer questions and gain insights into your data by having a conversation and say =”goodbye” to syntax and code.
Create and uncover stories
AI text and summaries can transform and analyze text from cells in your sheet. You can use it to craft summaries, translations, sentiment analysis, or even brand new ad copy and then add that output to the sheet
Get started by opening the double sparkle icon in the right rail of a sheet. The AI tools panel will allow you to select which tool you would like to use: generate formulas, or text and summaries.
Feedback on AI tools:
- Your feedback is especially important for features powered by AI. The Smartsheet product team uses your feedback and ratings to improve the feature to deliver better results.
- Use the in-app upvote or downvote buttons to provide feedback on individual responses. Enter additional details into the comment box that appears to help us better understand why it was helpful or not and what you were trying to accomplish.

Re: Select which columns to copy or move from one sheet to another
Rather than moving columns not necessary for another sheet, allow user to choose similar to how we select what someone sees in an update request or message.
Re: Collaborative and real-time editing
The issue with the autosave though is that it only updates after inactivity as far as I am aware. We’d like it so it’s more like a Google doc or even shared word doc so that it is just constantly updating and saving. Is there the option for this because I haven’t been able to find it.
Re: Adding Column Descriptions to Reports
I am running into this same problem. It would make it so much easier for my users to use their reports if they could see column descriptions. Column names are as clear as I can make them but that descriptive helper text would prevent so much more confusion and accidents.
Re: Symbol Flexibility - more symbol colors
I think it would be great if we could have more than four colors in the symbol column type
How do I freeze columns in a report on a dashboard?
I'm trying to include a report on a dashboard, but I can't seem to figure out a way to freeze columns when the report is on the dashboard. Is there a way to do this?
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
