I'm using the Live Data Connector to import data from smartsheet to excel. I started by using the (not recommended) Excel Data connector because I was less familiar with other methods but the data imports without any problems. Some connections to the smartsheet data are associated with an .odc file saved on my local computer so that when someone opens the excel file from another location they're hit with a bunch of "can't connect" alerts. I'm trying alternative methods of establishing a connection that wouldn't need for the .odc files (Microsoft Query or by going through the query wizard). Just wondering if anyone is linking excel with smartsheet data and if they have any problems when the excel sheet is used by others.
Thanks!

Hi Mike—
We haven't received reports of this kind of issue. This may be due to some people not having the right account type to access and run the live data connector sync.
One potential solution here is to consider using our Data Uploader app. This takes data from Excel into Smartsheet and sets up a recurring sync: https://help.smartsheet.com/articles/2478361-data-uploader
This may be a process change on your end, but it's something to explore.

We have hundreds of dashboards and they will all need…
When i try to send or print the timeline view instead of showing the progression bars like they do on the screen it only send the data entered and not a graph type view to print. Is there a way to do this. I am using a mac platform if that helps.
I have reproduced the following behavior in a validated Smartsheet application. User permission: Editor (not Admin) Row status: Locked (confirmed via row menu displaying "Unlock Row") Text, Date, Contact List, and Checkbox columns cannot be modified. Dropdown List columns remain editable. Selecting a new dropdown value and…
