Automatically add 1 to the previous value of a column?

Is there a function / automation that would add 1 to the previous value of a column?

I am trying to automatically record the number of times that a date was changed in another column but can't think of how to combine formulas to do it.

You could use a Workflow with the Change Cell Action and add multiple paths for each number.
