Automatically populating a cell from information of another cell
Hello Smartsheet Community,
I am stuck on a specific formula. I want to automatically populate a cell whenever there is information placed in a particular column. At the same time, there is also a checkbox column. I want the information to populate in the cell only if the checkbox row column is checked as well. So for this formula, there are two conditions:
- Populate the cell with the information in a specific column
- Only populate the cell if the check for the specific column's row is checked
Please let me know if this is a possibility. Thank you and have a great day!

You'll want to use a Join/Collect formula.
=JOIN(COLLECT(Comments:Comments, Checkbox:Checkbox, @cell = 1), " & ")

Hi @Adam1234
I hope you're well and safe!
Can you maybe share some screenshots? (Delete/replace any confidential/sensitive information before sharing) That would make it easier to help.
Be safe, and have a fantastic week!

Hello @Andrée Starå
Below is a fake scenario I made to explain better. Whenever a comment in Column 2 is made, I want it to go into the yellow cell. But I want it only to apply to Column 2 comments only if they have a star checked in Column 3.
So Essentially, the yellow cell should only read "John went to the store" & "The store was very big" all in that yellow cell.

Thank you guys for your help!
I do have a follow-up question relating to this. I wanted the other text that wasn't checked, "Joey also went to the store" to be displayed on the cell below the highlighted cell. How would that pan out?
In other words, I would like every cell in column 2 that has text in it and is NOT flagged all in one cell.
I tried using a not function but with very little success.
- Thank you

Taking the same formula and changing the cell value to equal zero should pick up everything.
=JOIN(COLLECT(Comments:Comments, Checkbox:Checkbox, @cell = 0), " & ")
