How do I change the status (symbol) based on date

Hi! I am trying to use the tools in the automated workflow to change the status based on a date. But it doesn't show the option of symbols or even the column related to the symbol that I wish to change/automate. It only gives me the optin to choose a column related to text or number, that's why doesn't show the column related to symbol. How do I solve it?

On the step above I input the date equal "today".

Unfortunately "and much more" does not include symbols for some reason. One thing that you could do is make a drop-down equivalent to "Red" "Yellow" or "Green" that you and your team update on the regular and then could be used in an automation. I've had to do something like this, and I just add some conditional formatting for the cell to match the drop-down to give it that visual stimulation. Or you could use the drop-down as above, then have a formula in a symbol column that will return the corresponding answer.

I'd say this one is prime for product feedback, it seems like it should be so simple!
