formula to change upper case to all lower case?

I'm using an email address as an identifier from a survey/form to a smartsheet. For some reason, if the email address isn't all in lowercase letters, it doesn't recognize the user as completing the form (and their form data doesn't cross). Is there anyway to automatically change upper case letters to lower case from the transfer of information from the survey/form to the datasheet? Or is there a way to create a formula to remove the uppercase letters of the email address in a separate cell? We do this currently with number and inserting a "-" but unable to figure out changing the text case.

Add a so-called helper column referencing the cell with the text. Try something like this.

=LOWER(Text@row)
