Formula basics

I have used several formulas, thanks to many folk. Some of them are complex. Unfortunately, when I try to duplicate and reuse, I seem to get errors. If and when I figure out my issue, it seems my errors have to do with where I open and close parenthesis, where I add or don't have a comma, or the use of brackets. Issues seem to be related to where I specify range and criteria. I would love to watch a video the goes over these basics. Any suggestions?
