Cross Sheet Updating
My company builds meal plans for clients and we have a master sheet in Smartsheets that includes each meal and the calories/protein/carbs/fats. We then link this mastersheet to meal plan sheets and use a drop down for the type of meal and then vlookup to generate the calorie info etc. Everything pulls from the mastersheet. If we update the calorie info it will automatically update in the sheets but if we update the name of an item it shows up as an error in sheets.
Any ideas to try to fix this?

Sure!
Here's some screenshots
First is the mastersheet where we enter the meal name and then calorie etc info
Second is the plan sheet that pulls the info from the mastersheet, the meal names are a dropdown function
Third is the formula in the plan sheet

Hey @Carissa27
It's a little difficult to see the formula you're using in that last screen capture - would you mind copy/pasting it here into the forum?
By your initial explanation, it sounds like when you change the Name of the item the formula breaks. My guess is that this is because you're using the Name as the Unique Value to match across sheets and display content based on that. This means if you update the main source sheet, the other sheets looking into that source are unable to find a match anymore to the name they have listed in their sheet.
Do you have something else you can use to reference items by? Such as a code or number? That way you could use the static ID as the matching value, meaning you could update names and calories and all the updates would flow into all the other sheets (since the ID is static). Does that make sense?
Cheers,
Genevieve
