Hello everyone,

Is there any way to merge cells in Smartsheet?

You can't merge them in the way you could in excel to span them across rows or columns, but you can add data from several cells into one cell using a JOIN formula.

You can also create simple joins by using a formula like this: 

=[Column Name]1 + [Another Column Name]1

*You only need brackets if your column name has spaces.

Merged cell capacity is critical. Please add  - otherwise the advantage over a shares XLS / Google sheet is questionable.

Hi Bene, there is a lot of functionality that Smartsheet offers that products like Excel and Google Sheet don't. The limitations, depending on your project, pale in comparison to the benefits if using a Google sheet or excel. There are project management capabilities that are far more useful than the other spreadsheet applications offer out of the box. Be careful to look closely at the specialized solutions that Smartsheet offers. Things like reporting, Gantt charts, project management features are pretty unique to Smartsheet or much easier to complete compared to the solutions you are suggesting.

While agree that there are many features that are far better than Excel, the merge capabilities is an issue with my team.  Have been able to get good adoption, across the organization but this is the one thing that drives people back to Excel or Google sheets if they want to present the data.
