Segmenting within Grids

It would be really helpful if Smartsheets allowed segmenting to provide the ability for formatting by cell or segments. For example, have the top segment of a Smartsheet have columns with formatting by contact names, and the bottom segment be a list of values, associated with the contact names in the rows above. Format functionality is available by cell in Excel, but only be column in Smartsheet. This would really assist in my ability to convert some of my excel files into Smartsheets.
