Formula to calculate days lapsed between 2 dates but only starts when date is reached

In am struggling with a formula that will calculate the # of days lapsed between 2 dates but only starts when date 1 is reached (i.e. not in the future). I'll use this to determine the target % completion expected based on # of days lapsed against netdays total between the two dates.
