Calculate duration of months from start / end date

Hello,

I am trying to view FTE's across months and need to calculate duration of months that those FTE's are used. Ex; report snapshot. I think what I want is a pivot tabe that allows me to calculate FTE's across months and quarters. I'm struggling with how to do this so its cumulative.
