VLOOKUP

=VLOOKUP(Name@row, {ABCD Assessment Data}, 6, false)

I have different names in a column called 'Name' in column 1 of 2 different sheets. In sheet 'ABCD Assessment Data' I want to take a Date in column 6 and put in column 5 of the second sheet. I have used the formula above and I keep getting #INVALID REF. I can't see why it isn't working. Can anyone see any errors in what I am doing? Is cell format a consideration at all?
