Adding conditions to an autonumbering column

I'm wondering if it's possible to format an autonumbering column to only populate numbers for rows that have a checkmark selected.

The information is captured and added to the sheet via form submission. There is a checkbox field within the form - I was hoping to have the sheet populate numbers for only the submissions that select the checkmark and would leave the unchecked rows blank.

Is this possible? Thank you in advance!

Hi @Megan417

This is a formula rather than auto number - see if this works for you:

=IF(Request@row = 1, "P" + COUNTIF(Request$1:Request@row, @cell = 1), "")

Note: The numbers will change if a box goes from unchecked to check.

More detail on what you are trying to accomplish might result in a different solution.
