Unique Count of Courses

I am trying to get a count of unique courses from the source sheet (sample below) but it returns value of 1. What am i doing wrong?

=COUNT(DISTINCT({course}))

I figured it out, looks like there were some mix of numbers and text, and DISTINCT does not understand it for some reason.
