Manufacturing Scanning
We manufacture an industrial machine. As the system moves through the process at each station we would like to update the status of each machine with a qr code or a barcode, and trigger automation rules ie send emails or alert for issues if they come up. We want in the future to populate the smartsheet with info from salesforce. Is this possible?

I'm not familiar with Smartsheet QR codes, but for the other idea, try Zapier if you want to move information between programs without API coding. They have a free 15 day trial, and free basic level accounts you can test them out with. I'm testing them myself right now for moving information within smartsheet.

Actually that QR code idea got me thinking and I researched it a little bit. Someone probably has a more efficient idea, but here is mine.
I would use 2 web forms and a status sheet. The first web form would be if the machine is running properly, and the second would be if there is an issue. I would create a query string to autofill as much information as I could for each web form, and use a service to turn it into a QR code, and post it near the machine. On the webforms I would hide all automatically updated information so all they would have to fill out for example would be their name, and the issue they are having if there is one. As for the automatic reminders, that would simply be a conditional reminder. I've posted links on query strings, as well as conditional notifications below. (to make it easy I would make an issue column on the status sheet with a checkbox that is checked by default by the issue webform, then send notifications if a new row is added that has the box checked)

Smartsheet has a Salesforce connector: https://www.smartsheet.com/salesforce
There is a sample QR code to Smartsheet application here: https://github.com/smartsheet-samples/QRScanner

Hi all,
We updated our mobile apps last week with barcode scanning capabilities for use when searching and when editing sheets. Please take a look at the launch announcement to learn more!
