Multiple Resources Assigned to Task

Hello,

I can see this has been asked and asked going back to 2015 at least.

I'm a project/programme manager I would like to be able to manage tasks/resource on projects for multiple clients without having to email and call every person for an update.  I have been searching for a product with the right feature set.  I had initially thought this would work and was very excited to start using it as I have mostly used MS Project.  This product seemed to have the strengths of MSP but with a less complicated and more open approach to collaboration. Boy did I run full tilt giddy and excited into the single task owner brick wall. I'm currently using the free trial and boy am I glad I did.

Unless someone "preferably"  at Smartsheet can tell me this is about to be addressed then unfortunately I will have to stop using this product as it falls short right at the finish line.  Would be an awesome product otherwise.  Its a real shame to drop the ball on such a way.  Considering how long this feature has been asked for, indefensible too.

    Hello Gareth,

There currently isn't a way to assign multiple resources to a task. As a potential workaround, you can create multiple rows for your task, and assign different people to those rows. Hierarchy can be used to help organize the tasks.

When you have a moment, please submit a Product Enhancement Request using the form under Quick links on the right of the community site to show our Product team the demand for this feature.

    Hi,

Yes, assigning multiple people to a task is now available.

Please see the attached link/screenshot for more information.

    Hi all,

We're pleased to announce that you can now quickly & easily assign tasks to multiple people. To do so, check the new "Allow multiple contacts per cell" checkbox in any contact column. The cells in that column will then allow up to 20 people to be added.

You can still leave that option unchecked when you only want a single person to be assigned to a task at a time.

Adding multiple contacts to a cell is useful not only for assigning people, but also for other scenarios where you want to associate multiple stakeholders with a row. For example, you might want those people to receive notifications when the row changes, or you may want them to appear in reports and filters.

For some projects, you may want to add 2 contact columns: one for the primary owner, and another for additional team members.

We welcome you to try it out and let us know what you think.
