Return a value from a different column

Question

Hi, I'm quite new to smartsheets and trying to write a formula to look at multiple cells and return a value. In this example column 3, 4, 5, & 6 will either be empty or say approved or submitted but only in one cell.  I want column 2 to look at 3,4,5.&6 and return the value that is there.  If column 3 says approved then 4,5,6 will be blank. If column 4 says submitted  then 3,5,6 will be blank.

If it is true that if any column contains either approved or submitted then all others will be blank, a simple JOIN will be all you need.

=JOIN([Column3]@row:[Column6]@row)
