I need Help with a function

Im currently in the proccess of switching from excel to smart sheets i need a formula that will change the color of a cell based on #days before a start date of a project. essentially if a task is not completed like a dumpster isnt ordered and the project starts in 3 days the cell turns red. Im guessing the excel function will not work in smart sheets.

For this I'd suggest using conditional formatting instead of a formula. You can set up a rule to format the cell or row based on criteria. If you want the color to be red in next 3 and yellow in the next 10 you can set up multiple rules.
