Ghost Apostrophe
I'm importing data directly from out accounting system via API into Smartsheet. For weeks things worked seamlessly. Nothing changed on my end, and the data started importing with an apostrophe at the beginning which is causing it to be read as text instead of a number. Which in turn is breaking all of my formulas. It's easy enough to delete the apostrophe, but manually everyday is too much.
No helper column, I don't want a hack or workaround- everything I've read in the community is this is a Smartsheet bug. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hello @ebrockman
It might be easiest to just use VALUE function for any formula which references a number with an apostrophe in it.

I really am not wanting to do a work around on all of my sheets.....

You may be able to convert the cells to values from within the programming language used for the API updates. Which language are you using for API?

I believe its JSON (not the programmer just the Smartsheeter )

JSON is how the programming language parses the data (like a .csv) -- you may need to consult with your programming team and see if they can update their script to account for apostrophes in numerical cells or cells that lead with 0

Thanks for the Suggestion Stey!
