Smartsheet Bridge: Get Attachment
Hi,
I refer you to Bridge: Smartsheet | Get Attachment article. The Get Attachment module returns useful information like:
- Attachment Type
- Created At
- Created By
- Name
- ID (of attachment)
- Mime type
- Name
- Parent ID
- Parent Type
- Size in Kb
- URL
- URL Expires in Milliseconds
It returns the URL which allows users to download it. But how? What can I do with it in Bridge and using which modules? Can I download it? Can I open the attachment? Can I extract data?
Your guidance would be appreciated.
Regards,
AK

Hi @akhalid
The Get Attachment module in Bridge is build on the Get Attachment API request: https://smartsheet.redoc.ly/tag/attachments#operation/attachments-get
The attachment URL returned will allow someone who clicks on the URL to download the attachment, as you noted. It is a temporary URL, so the ability to click-and-download will expire in 120000 milliseconds (2 minutes).
So with Bridge you could potentially extract the URL and send it to someone directly for them to click and download, or input the URL text into a cell in a sheet, but it will expire pretty quickly. Bridge itself will not click on / open the URL, if that's what you meant - it just fetches the data available through the API, which includes a download URL.
Cheers,
Genevieve
