Lock Columns to limit editing

It would be great if we could limit which columns in a sheet we will allow a user to edit.

I agree that it would be helpful to know more about what you're referring to - it is currently possible to Lock Columns and restrict editors from changing cell data in those columns. 🙂

Do you mean all users or a specific/dynamic set of users?

With one of my sheets, I only want the owner of the "item" (or line) to edit data. I would love to assign a single or multiple people by entering their contact names in one cell, which would then allow other cells to unlock for them. So even if someone fills in a form for a brand new item and adds their own name to that cell, then they will have the ability to edit that particular line item. Also include the ability to use the "created by" name as well.

This way I feel there is more direct control, right in the particular sheet, over who will have access to their own and to other's data (other than the admins).

That's only my particular use case that I can think of now.
