Added a new template to Control Center but I can't make global updates to it

Hi Smartsheet Community,

I created a template and added it to our Control Center template. I would now like to make global updates to every version we have of it in each workspace but it's not working as it should.


Would you be able to know how I can quickly fix it?

    When you add a new template to Control Center, it will be provisioned for new projects going forward but isn't added to existing projects. So if you're trying to make global updates to it, there's probably few or no copies of it to update?

    I think you're saying that only the projects that have been set-up since the new template was added, would be seen in the projects list? If that's the case, there have been workspaces created since the template was added but nothing is showing in the projects list?

    I've manually made the updates across all sheets but there a lot so keen to fix this for future needs.

    Adding a new template to an existing blueprint doesn't affect the main project list or the workspaces. It adds the template to the group of templates that is provisioned, but it doesn't "push" the template out to existing projects that were already provisioned.

    When you run a Global Update, it looks to see all the projects that are applicable for that specific Global Update. It's my guess that you're not seeing any projects to update when you run Global Update, because the template didn't exist for those projects and hence there's nothing to update.

    I could be wrong though, and it sounds like maybe you have some cases where you provisioned projects with the new template but they still aren't available for Global Update? Have you tried a different type of update just to see if the project list populates for other changes? If so, and you know that you should be getting a list, but you aren't, then I'd open a Support ticket on it and have the Control Center team take a closer look.
