Reporting & Metrics

Typically we try to use a report to update our Hypercare Ticket Log. This strategy helps us maintain a clean log and keeps the noise down. What we are finding though is though all members have "Editor" rights in the report, they are not able to create filters or sort the report when they are working.

The report needs to be usable, meaning the individual needs to be able to quickly access those tickets assigned to them and then update those tickets. This can be done either through a sort or through a Filter.

Is there something I am missing?

If you have each person assigned listed in a contact type column, you can have the report filtered by "Current User".

Hello Paul. They are all listed in a Contact Type column. They are also Editors - Cannot Share in the Report. My challenge is, I need them to be able to build their own filter or sort when they are working. Currently, they can do neither. Is this standard Smartsheet?

Tat is standard in Reports. If you need to give them access to data but do not want to give them Admin access, you should check out the premium add-on Dynamic View.

Not sure how many people you're talking about here, but what if you did build a 'Current User' Report, then have each of them save a copy of it to their Sheets folder or their own personal Workspace and they can become Owner of their own Report that is pulling in the data and they can manipulate sorts, groups, filters as they see fit. Now that might not work it the end users aren't Smartsheet savvy, but it could be a quick training to give them the basics of what they need to do to save out their own Report and how to manipulate the parameters atop the Report.

By having individual Reports, the adjustments one user makes won't impact other users, but everyone's still updating the same raw data from the original sheet.

Only problem with Dynamic view in reports is you can't group them. Smartsheet for some reason has decided to not do anything about this over the past 5 years. And also they don't care to listen to anyone one that actally uses the program.

Group reports are a great feature as well as dynamic view. But until somehing is done to correct this, Dumbsheet strikes again.
