Meet Ariah Montoya, our September Member Spotlight! 🎉

Ariah is an Events Governance Analyst at a global technology company you’ve probably heard of, and she lives in Arizona in the United States. She was first introduced to Smartsheet when her team was struggling to collect key event info for over 800 events. The highly manual process at the time had a large margin of error and required upkeep of information across multiple platforms and data sources. 

“Once I read about Smartsheet’s automation capabilities, I started learning the tool from scratch through LinkedIn Learning courses and the Smartsheet Community,” she says. “The volume of quality learning resources available made it easy to go from 0 to Smartsheet Hero within a few months.” 

Fast forward to present day, and Ariah has become a huge fan of workflow automations and dynamic views. These features have allowed her to develop solutions that track the details of hundreds of events across the globe while communicating specific details and status updates to a variety of key stakeholders based on user role. 

Community also still plays a big part in Ariah’s Smartsheet growth, and she credits the platform in helping her bring her teammates Event Headcount Algorithm (previously in Excel) to life with a dynamic dashboard and embedded form. Now, each event owner is able to enter their specific event-related details and view the employee headcount parameters for that program in real-time.

“Referencing the Community discussions significantly reduced the time it took to develop this solution by providing reference sheet and formula tips,” she explains. “In Community, there’s almost always someone who’s had the same problem as me, and there’s a massive network of experts eager to assist with a solution.” 

With innovation being one of her core beliefs in business, Ariah is excited to continue using Smartsheet to enhance her company’s event reporting procedures and data quality while breaking down information silos. 

When she’s not geeking out about data and automations, she’s often found soaking up the sun outdoors while gardening, skiing, kayaking, or hiking. Her greatest passion is people, and she loves making new connections while nourishing her closest relationships.
