Basic Cross Sheet Reference Not Working

I am trying to create a very simple formula to count the number of rows in a sheet based on status type. I'm getting an "unparseable" error and I can't figure out why. I've tried both the below criteria and "Intake" and am receiving the same result. Any ideas on what might be broken here??

    Try this - =COUNTIF({Status}, [Primary Column]@row)

    The error was due to the brackets.
