Form Creation

When creating a new form:

After you create and share a form, each submission is added to the top or bottom of your sheet as a new row.

How can I get this information, that is submitted in the form to generate into the correct cells within the Smartsheet?

IE collecting data from a field technician that corresponds with the correct vehicle.

    Hi @Amy_D2Install !

I am not sure if I correctly understand your question, so let me know if this answer is not what you were looking for. Forms questions are generated based on columns that come from the sheet that the form exists in. This means when the form is submitted, the responses will automatically populate the column the question came from.

You can also set up conditional logic if a response from a question should lead to more specific questions/set of responses.

Here is an additional article that might help: https://help.smartsheet.com/learning-track/smartsheet-intermediate/forms

    Hope this helps!

so Yes, I understand that, but let's say I have blank cells in the Smartsheet, I need the field tech to complete the form which fills in those cells.

Example - the Smartsheet will provide the year make and model of the car/truck

I need to send the field tech the form, and he upload the VIN

the vin, he submits will match the year make model of the car in the same ROW as that car and would be entered into the VIN column.

right now, when the field techs submit the VIN, it currently enters into a new row at the bottom of the Smartsheet.

Oh! Ok I think I get it now, I would actually use the update request feature if you need to ask an individual to make changes to specific cells when content already exists in that row.

You can set up an automation that automatically asks for an update or you can manually push for a update request from the row action indicators column.

From whatever path you take, you can customize the columns to include which sounds like it would just be the VIN, car make, and model.
