Issue with copy row automation

I have set up a basic "copy row" automation from Sheet A to Sheet B based on the value of column PID, see attached screenshot.

Unfortunatly this is not working.

Anyone got any ideas?

@RonnyA Hey, Ronny! Just out of curiosity does the destination sheet have any other data on it, or at one time have any other data? When you use a copy automation it sends it to the destination sheet and places it on the bottom at the first available row. If that sheet ever had any data in it in the top rows, even if you deleted it, Smartsheet still considers it an unusable destination row. So scroll down a bit on your destination sheet first to see if the data is there, but just out of your view.

  • Thanks for your ideas but the info is not on the destination sheet. I checked the bottom of the sheet but there is nothing. I have lso deleted the automation workflow altogether and re-created it but it doesnt seem to make any difference.

  • Hi @RonnyA

A few things to check here! 🙂

    • I see that your trigger is "when rows are added" but not when they are changed. Can you double check that the value(s) are in the PID cell at the time of the row being created?
    • I see that these are all identified as numbers. Is it possible that the sheet is reading them as text values? (Check to see if the number appears on the right or left of the cell)
    • Can you confirm if the workflow has ever run? Go to Manage Automations > from here you'll see when the workflow was created and when it last ran.

For example, my Test Workflow has not been triggered, but the inactive one below shows the last time it ran. Do you have a date/time here?

    Thanks!
    Genevieve

  • Hi Genevieve,

    Thanks for your feedback.

I have copied the destination sheet and deleted all the values.

The automation works to the copied sheet.
