How do I get rid of unwanted text boxes on the left side while editing a form?

I delete them from the form, then they go right there again (left side). Once the form is submitted, (without being on the actual form) they appear in the email confirmation.

This is one of them (This makes it seem like the question as skipped) Help?

    Hi @SDSU,

The fields on the left side are the fields from your grid that are not included on your form. All fields from your grid are either on your form or available to be put onto the form. There's no getting rid of them from the left side of the edit view.

As far as receiving emails, you can specify which fields should be included. That's a separate setting, and is not part of editing a form.

One thing needed to know in order to help you is: Are the emails you're receiving, which include that unwanted field, being triggered by automation? If so, you can edit the automation to only include the fields you want.

Let me know what is triggering those emails, and we can figure out why those fields are included.

    All the best,
    -Ray

  • Hi @Ray Lindstrom

Just to recap, there is no way to get rid of those fields at all?

I went into the automation and yes, I believe it's triggered for all fields to appear. Including the ones I don't need.

Your suggestion is to go one by one and add all my fields, in the 'when' section? I have 5 separate forms that have about 20-30 fields on each that I do want and 4-5 sections that I don't want. 😓 It would be a lot easier to get rid of the extra fields.

There's no reason or way to "get rid" of the fields. They are there for you to select from "if" you want them on your form.

You get rid of the fields in your automated email alert by defining which fields should be sent with the automated email. This is done in the Automation for that Alert.

You don't need to change your Automation Trigger by adding all those fields. Instead go to the bottom of the automation where it says "Customize message". Click that and then you get the option for "Link to sheet and all fields" or "Link to sheet and specified fields".

  • I see, thank you for your help! I think I got it now!
