Why does newly created grid/sheet come with pre-populated columns & 1 row?

I've recently created a new sheet / grids and it has come with pre-populated columns and 1 row of data. How can I have a new sheet / grid be blank? I'm losing time by having to undo these prepopulated columns.

I just created 2 sheets, 1 had the issue, the other didn't.
When I was in the Browse display and choose "create", I got a blank grid as expected and desired:
When I was in the actual Grid display and then opened the folder sidebar and clicked "add", I got a sheet intended for program management (decidedly NOT as desired):
Personally, I consider this a bug and recommend that you submit it for resolution. As a workaround, the behavior appears to be dependent upon HOW you create a new grid even though it shouldn't be.

Are you creating the sheet from a template or using the "Save as new" feature?

I'm creating from under Workspace items. No template that I'm aware of and I'm definitely not using the "Save as new" feature.

It looks like it is trying to start you off with a project plan. Try creating new through the browse folder instead.

Hi, all. I'm wondering whether or not anyone might have a different answer or theory. One of my users is experiencing this, as well.
Although the new grid/smartsheet has some columns that appear to be Project Management related, the PM settings are NOT activated. I can't see Carol's example, but have attached a screenshot of what results, in our system (possibly shown below, as well).(The Modified and Modified by columns are also included. I just haven't shown them)
Could there be some kind of default setting associated with his user profile? This happened yesterday, and I had him try again today, after a full reboot, but the problem continues. He has not had time to delete his cookies, so I have yet to find out whether or not that fixes the problem, but I would be curious as to the cause, regardless (in case it happens for another user).
Carol, I see that you reported this, a month ago. Did it ever stop happening for you? If so, did you fix something, or did it just "go away"?

@JohnGE I have not had any resolution to this issue. I receive the same results that you shared in your jpg. This happens whether I'm working in the desktop app or via the browser. I'm a little relieved that I'm not the only one! 🙃

@jgorsich - I agree with your assessment. Thank you.

@Jgorsich Thanks for offering this research. That's good troubleshooting! You must work in a QA role!!!
(You kind of tricked me, since your screenshot showing a new sheet, is still the generic sheet, even though you're talking about the "project management" sheet, at that point), but I was able to follow, and confirm, with my own experience, as well as the person on my team, who first pointed it out.
I agree that it certainly is odd (Defect) behavior, since the result depends on which direction you start from, but at least we now have an answer. Really do appreciate your figuring it out, and chiming in, with an answer!
