Index/Match, I *think*
Hi! I'm (I think) trying to make an index/match happen. I'd like Smartsheet to look for a matching contact in another row, and then copy three cell values from the lower row to the higher row automatically. Is there any way to do this?
Alternatively, I could live with doing this for every column that needs it. So for example, if a row is added with the same contact name in the contact column, copy the cell in (other column) from the max row to the same column cell in the original row.

I ended up going a different route after getting additional feedback from those I'm building a solution for! I apologize for the switchup. I built another sheet as a reference sheet, and now the original sheet matches names and pulls the information that way. Thank you all so much for your help regardless!

Are you able to provide some screenshots for context?

The best I have right now is this— I would like, every time smartsheet identifies a duplicate contact (here as NB), to copy the three cells on the right and paste them in the upper row.

Hey @AriGalloway
A few more clarifying questions to help the community understand your scenario:
- What if a contact appears more than twice? For example, suppose in addition to NB appearing on rows 134 and 140, NB also appeared on row 137. What would be the desired outcome then?
- Were you planning on the column [Submitter's Comments] also containing manual entries? Columns cannot have both manual entries and automatic formula entries in the same column. To achieve your request above the [Submitter's Comments] will be a formula column.
- Are you ok with adding additional helper columns to your sheet, if needed? (helper columns can be hidden and/or moved to the far right, if desired). For instance, it might be required to add the system auto-number column ([Row ID]), if the column doesn't already exist.
