Creating a portfolio level RAID log

I'm wondering how others have used Smartsheet to create a portfolio view of risks and issues. We aren't a large organisation and there is a lot of interdependence between different projects. It feels like overkill to create a separate RAID log for every project. I'm thinking about adding a column to the RAID log that will have a dropdown list of all the projects. When the project manager enters the risk or issue into the log, the can select one or more projects that it relates to. We can then filter the report for the portfolio dashboard by entries that pertain to more than one project.

What have others done that has worked? Does this sound like a reasonable suggestion?

    hi @Kate OK,

I do not agree that having RAID log for every project would be an overkill.

After the project get's bigger there will be dozens if not hundreds of Risks, Issues, etc. associated to each project so every project shall have their own sheet.

You can resolve the issue by creating Report to which all RAID log sheets will be added - based on that you can have all raids from all project in one place where you can group, count, or create reports that show only itmes that are assigned to person that opens the report.

Also in the report the SME can work directly with the items.

    Hope this helps.

  • Thanks for your thoughts Kowal. How would you flag risk and issues as impacting more than one project? So if one project goes off track then other projects will be impacts as well?
