10 empty rows at bottom of intake sheet and summary sheets come back after being deleted

Hi.

There are 10 rows in our project intake sheet and consequently our summary sheets and is throwing off our metrics/formulas for some of our dashboards.

I keep on trying to delete these but they come right back after a refresh. Is there anyway to stop this from happening or am I missing something?

    hi @Kam114,

It's not only Intake Sheet or Summary Sheet. Smartsheet is constructed this way that there are always 10 extra rows without data at the bottom. It's by default.

It should not impact your formulas at all but if it impact formula l"count" etc. you can change to "countif" etc.

    Hope it helps.

Hi Kowal, I am using countifs formula. I am using a formula that is supposed to count empty cells in a "Year" Column and that formula is also capturing the 10 empty rows at the bottom.

    hi @Kam114,

do you wanna share a screenshot sample? It's difficult for me to imagine that.

Here it is just to show you that it's counting all the empty rows at the bottom despite the Year column above having no empty cells.

I'm actually referencing this summary sheet in another sheet and trying the other version of the blank formula results in the same "10" value for me. The value should be 0.

    =COUNTIFS({Project Program Summary | Year}, "", {Project Program Summary | Implementation Status}, "")

    hi @Kam114,

thanks for sharing yeah now I can see it also taks those unwanted rows at the bottom that should not be part of counting at all. I just tested in on my sheets and yeah it's calculating as you say.

But I have a workaround that can help. You can add helping column e.g. checkbox and use formula: =IF(ISBLANK(year@row), 0, 1) it will not consider those 10 extra rows at the bottom (not 0 neither 1) and based on those I calculated how many i have blank cells in my sheet.

However I do not know if it will work in your situation.

Thank you Tomasz, I think that would work in our situation, but I would have to add that helper now to a good amount of COUNTIFS formulas I have on another metrics sheet (and I am using the microsoft word hack to bulk edit formulas there and copy/paste back into smartsheet).

I'm wondering if anyone else has spoken to this as an enhancement (those 10 default empty rows shouldn't be counted as part of any formula!)
